Les sages-femmes à l’honneur

L’Association d’Étudiants Sages-Femmes de Baudelocque (AESFB) en partenariat avec l’African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF Flying Doctors), proposent un événement inédit à l’occasion de la Journée internationale de la sage-femme ce jeudi 4 mai au Magasin Général de 17h30 à 20h00.

Depuis plus de 15 ans, le 5 mai est dédié à l’un des plus beaux métiers du monde. Cette profession comporte de multiples facettes et est encore trop méconnue du grand public. C’est justement l’occasion de découvrir ce métier, de rendre hommage aux femmes (et aux hommes !) qui le pratiquent et de montrer leur importance au sein de la société.

— Une projection : Naître. Le combat des sages-femmes en Afrique, webdocumentaire réalisé par l’AMREF,
— Une exposition : Les compétences des sages-femmes à travers le monde, réalisée par l’AESFB,
— Une vente de gâteaux et des goodies AMREF (T-shirt, pin’s, bracelets).

A propos de l’AMREF

–

L’African Medical and Research Foundation, première ONG de santé publique en Afrique, a lancé en 2011 la campagne Stand Up for African Mothers, qui vise à former 15 000 sages-femmes africaines pour contribuer à réduire de 25 % la mortalité maternelle en Afrique subsaharienne. Grâce à cette campagne, 7 000 sages-femmes ont déjà été formées ou sont en cours de formation dans 8 pays.

La journée “Les sages-femmes à l’honneur” permettra de promouvoir la campagne Stand Up for African Mothers, et aussi de rendre compte de l’importance du rôle des sages-femmes, tant en France qu’en Afrique.

A propos de l’École de sage-femme Baudelocque

L’École de sage-femme de Baudelocque a été fondée 1802 dans la maternité de Port-Royal. Depuis 2012, suite aux travaux de rénovation de la maternité, le siège de l’école s’est installée sur le site de l’ancien hôpital Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, tandis que les cours des quatre années sont répartis principalement entre Saint-Vincent-de-Paul/Les Grands Voisins, l’hôpital Cochin et la faculté de médecine de Paris V (site Cochin). Elle est actuellement en cours de déménagement.

Le recrutement des élèves de Baudelocque se fait à la fin de la PAES (première année comme des études de santé) en sortant des universités Paris V (Cochin), Paris VII (Lariboisière-Bichat) et Paris XIII (Bobigny) formant une classe d’une trentaine d’étudiants chaque année. Depuis plus de deux siècles, la formation, l’organisation des études et de la vie des élèves sages-femmes a suivi le cours de l’évolution de la société.

Depuis plusieurs années, l’association des étudiants soutient activement la campagne Stand up for African Mothers en menant des actions de sensibilisation et de collecte de dons.
